Emilio Lozada Garc\u00eda (@EmilioLozadaG) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/EmilioLozadaG\/status\/1543956074318921730?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">July 4, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The spokesman for the EU Foreign Service, Peter Stano, said last week in a message through his social networks that the European bloc reiterated its \u201cconcern\u201d after the sentences imposed on Otero and Castillo, and also urged the Cuban authorities \u201cto respect all civil and political rights,\u201d EFE news agency specified.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Spanish media recalled that the Attorney General of the Republic of Cuba (FGR) reported on June 24 that plastic artist Otero Alc\u00e1ntara and rapper Maikel Castillo P\u00e9rez, known as \u201cOsorbo,\u201d had received prison sentences of 5 and 9 years, respectively.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the case of Otero, leader of the opposition San Isidro Movement (MSI), and imprisoned since July 11, the Court \u201cargued the express intention, sustained over time, of offending the national flag, through the publication of photos in social networks where it is used in denigrating acts, accompanied by notoriously offensive and disrespectful expressions, underestimating the feelings of nationality and pride that the Cuban people profess to our national flag,\u201d said <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fgr.gob.cu\/noticias\/informacion-de-la-fiscalia-general-de-la-republica-sobre-el-proceso-penal-donde-fueron\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>a note<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> from the FGR.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, regarding Osorbo, co-author of the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/cultura\/musica\/otorgan-a-patria-y-vida-premio-a-mejor-cancion-urbana-en-grammy-latinos-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>well-known musical theme \u201cPatria y vida\u201d<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and imprisoned for a year, the Prosecutor\u2019s Office affirmed that \u201cwith the manifest purpose of insulting, offending the honor and dignity of the highest authorities of the country, he used false images of them, digitally manipulated, which he made public on social networks; In that process, three other people were also sentenced for events that occurred in April 2021.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The sentences against Otero and Osorbo have been criticized by non-governmental organizations and international human rights organizations such as AI and Human Rights Watch (HRW), the Spanish agency added. However, the court\u2019s decision is not yet final, so \u201cas established by law, the accused and the district attorney have the right to establish an appeal,\u201d according to the
