Photo: Otmaro Rodr\u00edguez.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In 2019, the conga was suspended due to the \u201csituation\u201d the country was experiencing and \u201ccertain circumstances that do not help its successful development,\u201d <\/span>as reported<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at the time. In response, a part of the LGBTIQ+ community called for an alternative march that culminated in <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/cuba\/marcha-independiente-lgbtiq-en-la-habana-termina-con-interrupcion-de-la-policia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>clashes and arrests<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Then, in 2020 and 2021, the parade had to be suspended due to the pandemic. Meanwhile, last year it <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/cuba\/cancelan-actividades-festivas-de-las-jornadas-cubanas-contra-la-homofobia-y-la-transfobia\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>was canceled<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, along with other festive activities scheduled for the Day, in respect to the victims of the explosion at the Saratoga Cuban Days against Homophobia and Transphobia.
