{"id":294297,"date":"2024-01-09T08:35:41","date_gmt":"2024-01-09T13:35:41","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/?p=294297"},"modified":"2024-01-09T08:35:41","modified_gmt":"2024-01-09T13:35:41","slug":"cuba-to-not-require-covid-vaccination-certificate-or-negative-test-from-international-travelers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba\/cuba-to-not-require-covid-vaccination-certificate-or-negative-test-from-international-travelers\/","title":{"rendered":"Cuba to not require Covid vaccination certificate or negative test from international travelers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Travelers who arrive in Cuba, regardless of the country of origin and vaccination status, do not have to present a COVID-19 negative test, nor a certificate of immunization against the disease.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dr. Carmelo Trujillo, head of International Health Control of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), responded this Friday on the X social media to the concerns and doubts of the population about the measures taken at the island\u2019s airports.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, Trujillo specified that only rapid testing for COVID-19 or PCR will be carried out on those travelers who, at the time of arrival in Cuba, present or are detected with respiratory symptoms.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The source also clarified that travelers from Angola, Brazil or any other area or country with transmission of yellow fever must present the International Vaccination Certificate against that disease when the health authority requests it.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"es\" dir=\"ltr\">Dadas las inquietudes y dudas de la poblaci\u00f3n sobre las medidas de Control Sanitario Internacional tomadas en los aeropuertos, el Dr. Carmelo Trujillo, jefe de Control Sanitario Internacional  del <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MINSAPCuba?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@MINSAPCuba<\/a>, brinda respuestas a  estas interrogantes.<\/p>\n<p>\u270d\ufe0f<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/eJXElFH9lC\">https:\/\/t.co\/eJXElFH9lC<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/lTXA19lKWd\">pic.twitter.com\/lTXA19lKWd<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Photo: flickr.com \/ Archive.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Four charter companies currently operate in the province, while American Airlines arrives with two weekly frequencies, Lisandra D\u00edaz, head of the Operations Unit of the air terminal, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.prensa-latina.cu\/2024\/01\/05\/aeropuerto-de-cuba-abre-ventana-al-turismo-2\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>explained<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to Prensa Latina.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">B\u00e1rbara Colina, a representative of American Airlines in Camag\u00fcey, commented that the flights serve to connect Cayo Cruz with nature tourism lovers, beyond the constant arrival of Cubans who visit their relatives on the island.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Colina said that 40% of travelers with a United States passport have arrived since 2022, to practice excursion tourism to Cayo Cruz for a day, in an area that various tour operators promote as a favorite destination for sun and beach in Cuba.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cuban tourism closed 2023 with around 2.45 million visitors, a figure far from the 3.5 million that the sector authorities had planned.
