With this step, the island invites member States with sugarcane agroindustries to integrate circular economy approaches into their respective national strategies.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Likewise, adds PL, it calls for exploring and developing partnership initiatives, in cooperation with the private sector and other actors, focused on supporting the implementation of these actions.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The approval of the Cuban resolution is considered one of the most important milestones achieved at the international level in the area of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">competence of the organization.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To try to revive the island\u2019s depressed sugar industry, Cuba and Ethiopia agreed at the beginning of this year to collaborate in development, research, production and technical assistance in that sector.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The agreement seeks to improve capabilities, develop sugar cane varieties, biotechnological collaboration, technology transfer and trade within the sector, according to state television station Fana Broadcasting Corporate, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.prensa-latina.cu\/2024\/02\/02\/etiopia-y-cuba-firmaron-acuerdo-para-cooperacion-en-sector-azucarero\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>cited<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0by Prensa Latina.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The general director of the Ethiopian Sugar Industry Group, Wayo Roba, and his Cuban counterpart, Francisco Ren\u00e9 Mart\u00edn, agreed to \u201cincrease the production capacities of sugar factories and improve competence in maintenance and operational management.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Only 11 of the 22 planned sugar mills were operational at the beginning of 2024 as part of the current <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/tag\/sugar-harvest-in-cuba\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>sugar harvest<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> in Cuba, as confirmed by official sources.
