The US Triangle Choral Exchange will perform in several Cuban cities as part of a tour arranged for the last two weeks in June.<\/p>\n
The band, directed by maestro Rodney Wynkoop, includes classic and contemporary pieces in their repertory, but they will also interpret Cuban music as for instance songs by Eliseo Grenet and Francisco Repilado (Compay Segundo).<\/p>\n
The Triangle Choral Exchange will perform in Cienfuegos, on June 17, at 9:00 p.m., in the Tom\u00e1s Terry Theater, and will be joined by local artists.<\/p>\n
Santa Clara will be their second stop on June 19, at 8:30 p.m., at the Cultural Center of the city. Villa Clara\u2019s Provincial Choir, directed by Yolanda Mart\u00ednez, will be one of the special guests for the evening.<\/p>\n
In Havana, the US band will perform along with Entrevoces, a choir directed by Digna Guerra. This performance is scheduled for June 24, at 5:00 p.m., at the emblematic Museum of the Revolution.<\/p>\n
The band brings together 40 singers from three cities from North Carolina (US), known as \u201cthe triangle\u201d. Its singers come from different choirs led by PhD. Rodney Wynkoop.<\/p>\n
It is made up of university students and professionals, including professors, music teachers, active and retired academicians, doctors, researchers, administrative employees, computer programmers and architects. For the last two decades, these artists have taken their work to Russia, South Africa, Namibia and Brazil, among other nations.<\/p>\n
Its director, PhD. Rodney Wynkoop, is in charge of the musical direction of the Chapel at the University of Duke and directs its choir. He also teaches choir direction at the Music Department of the university and holds a degree on Practice of Music.<\/p>\n
Wynkoop majored from Yale on Music and got a PhD degree from Yale\u2019s Music School. He is since 1986 Director of Duke Chorale and Chamber Choir, and Director of Chapel Music, made up of 32 voices. He also founded Arts Ensemble from Durham, which is considered to hold a high professional level.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
