{"id":315343,"date":"2024-12-23T18:32:47","date_gmt":"2024-12-23T23:32:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/?p=315343"},"modified":"2024-12-23T18:32:47","modified_gmt":"2024-12-23T23:32:47","slug":"humanitarian-parole-only-50-arrive-in-u-s-in-november-none-of-them-cuban","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba-usa\/humanitarian-parole-only-50-arrive-in-u-s-in-november-none-of-them-cuban\/","title":{"rendered":"Humanitarian parole: Only 50 arrive in U.S. in November, none of them Cuban"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The number of migrants arriving in the United States through the <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/tag\/us-parole\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>humanitarian parole<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> program in November was only 50, among whom none <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uscis.gov\/humanitarian\/humanitarian-parole\/the-cuban-family-reunification-parole-program\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>were Cuban citizens<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/newsroom\/national-media-release\/cbp-releases-november-2024-monthly-update\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>According to<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> the Customs and Border Protection (CBP), a total of 531,670 Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans and Venezuelans arrived legally in the country, where they obtained conditional freedom according to the parole programs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The number of Cubans, however, remained the same as it had been reported in October, at 110,240.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the other hand, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba-usa\/humanitarian-parole-more-than-57000-cubans-authorized-to-enter-u-s\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">authorizations fell for Cubans<\/a><\/strong> from 110,980 in October to 110,970 in November.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The humanitarian parole program, established in January 2023 by the Joe Biden administration to facilitate the legal entry of citizens from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua and Venezuela, remains practically paralyzed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The program began to show signs of stagnation last August, when the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) reported irregularities in the handling of cases.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since then, reviews have resulted in an almost total freeze.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Donald Trump, who will take office on January 20, has promised to eliminate the program by executive order on his first day in office.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Trump has referred to the humanitarian parole program as \u201cineffective, riddled with fraud and an economic burden on taxpayers.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Immigration has been a deciding challenge of Joe Biden\u2019s presidency, marked by a record number of asylum seekers and migrants arriving at the southern border between the United States and Mexico.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) deported 271,484 immigrants last fiscal year, marking the highest level of deportations since 2014, according to a recently published annual report <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/cnnespanol.cnn.com\/2024\/12\/19\/estados-unidos\/biden-mayor-nivel-deportaciones-2014-trax\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>cited<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0by CNN.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mexico was the destination with the most deportations (87,298).
