It was then said on the networks that a package of sanctions against the Cuban regime would then be announced.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The alleged statement appeared signed by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and listed five measures that would be announced on January 30, among which was the suspension of direct commercial flights to Cuba and the limitation of travel for Cubans residing in the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Shortly after, a senior State Department official, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cafefuerte.com\/cuba\/desmentido-oficial-gobierno-de-ee-uu-no-ha-anunciado-sanciones-contra-remesas-y-viajes-a-cuba\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>quoted<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0by <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Caf\u00e9 Fuerte<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, denied these rumors.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>A bill<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scott also recently presented a bill called the \u201cDemocracy Act,\u201d which aims to freeze assets and prohibit visas to members of key sectors of the Cuban government, particularly the military.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The bill is part of a broader strategy to weaken \u201cauthoritarian regimes in Latin America.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Joining Tommy Tuberville, Scott <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.martinoticias.com\/a\/senador-scott-presenta-nuevamente-ley-democracia-para-incrementar-sanciones-contra-la-dictadura-cubana\/409314.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>presented<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> this bill aiming to apply \u201cunprecedented financial pressure.\u201d Scott had headed this project with then-Senator Marco Rubio in the last Congress, according to <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mart\u00ed Noticias<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cAll their problems in Latin America start with the Cuban regime,\u201d the senator said, as highlighted now by the <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CBS News Miami<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> report published this Monday on its website. \u201cIf you get rid of the Castro regime, it helps us get rid of [Venezuela\u2019s Nicolas] Maduro and [Nicaragua\u2019s Daniel] Ortega.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Making \u201clife more difficult\u201d<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Regarding trips to the island, he has said: \u201cIf you want to move back to Cuba, move back to Cuba.
