It might seem like an exercise in dusting off archives, but it\u2019s quite the opposite. By running in circles, these images, far from aging, are renewed from time to time. As if time on the island didn\u2019t advance in a straight line, but rather revolved around itself, always returning to the same starting point.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This photographic journey is also related to the feeling that what happens in Cuba seems to pass \u2014 by mandate of some unwritten logic \u2014 through an absurd sieve.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 1366px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/internet-fotos-Kaloian-3-1366x1067.jpg\" alt=\"Photo: Kaloian.\" width=\"1366\" height=\"1067\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Kaloian.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 1366px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/internet-fotos-Kaloian-10-1366x1008.jpg\" alt=\"Photo: Kaloian.\" width=\"1366\" height=\"1008\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Kaloian.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<figure style=\"width: 1366px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/internet-fotos-Kaloian-9-1366x1088.jpg\" alt=\"Photo: Kaloian.\" width=\"1366\" height=\"1088\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Kaloian.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the most recent chapters in the surreal saga once again has the internet as its protagonist.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The photos are from ten years ago, when internet access spread through <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=H3-evld8pMQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>Wi-Fi hotspots in parks, hotels and certain public spaces<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the so-called street internet.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">People crowded any park with Wi-Fi, holding up phones searching for a signal, street vendors selling refill cards whispering \u201cWi-Fi, Wi-Fi,\u201d and computers everywhere, as if it were an internet cafe with no coffee, chairs or tables.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 1366px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/internet-fotos-Kaloian-2-1366x905.jpg\" alt=\"Photo: Kaloian.\" width=\"1366\" height=\"905\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Kaloian.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since then, internet access in Cuba has oscillated between the miraculous and the frustrating, between a victory and a renunciation. The rates \u2014 disproportionate to the average salary \u2014 were always an obstacle, but the need to stay connected, to take a peek at the world, to know about a son or daughter in Miami, or to see memes, was stronger.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 905px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/internet-fotos-Kaloian-905x1366.jpg\" alt=\"Photo: Kaloian.\" width=\"905\" height=\"1366\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\">Photo: Kaloian.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So, people managed as best they could. Criticism and memes continue to pour in via WhatsApp, Telegram and X, on an island where humor is as eternal as summer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But there\u2019s something new this time. Unlike in previous times, when criticism was confined to private banter or whispers on street corners, today \u2014 thanks precisely to digital access \u2014 outrage is expressed, shared and multiplied.
