(GAESA), and its affiliates,\u201d the statement specified.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">However, the prohibition on transactions with Cuba does not include those related to aspects such as support for \u201cprograms to build democracy in Cuba,\u201d \u201cpromoting national security or foreign policy interests of the United States,\u201d and \u201csupporting the sale of agricultural products, medicines, and medical devices,\u201d according to U.S. law.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Regarding travel to the island, the document states that the \u201cstatutory ban on U.S. tourism to Cuba\u201d will be enforced through regular audits and mandatory record-keeping<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">of all travel-related transactions for at least five years.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the case of educational trips, one of the types authorized for more than two decades, these must be carried out \u201csponsored by an organization subject to the jurisdiction of the United States, and said travelers must be accompanied by a representative of the sponsoring organization.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"UhcbIJRkgu\"><p><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba-usa\/cuba-u-s-in-2024-a-chronology\/\">Cuba-U.S. so-called \u201cwet foot, dry foot\u201d policy \u2014 eliminated by Obama in January 2017 \u2014 and \u201camplifies efforts to support the Cuban people through the expansion of internet services, free press, free enterprise, free association, and lawful travel.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the case of telecommunications, it announces the convening of a working group by Secretary of State Marco Rubio to \u201cassess the technological challenges and opportunities for expanding internet access in Cuba, including through federal government support for programs and activities that promote freedom of expression.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The memorandum, which will take effect in the next 30 days, supports the reinforcement of the embargo against Cuba and opposes measures calling for an end to the embargo at the United Nations (UN) and other international forums.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fact sheet also demands a review of human rights in Cuba, \u201cincluding unlawful detentions and inhumane treatment, and requires a report on fugitives from American justice living in Cuba or being harbored by the Cuban government,\u201d the U.S. government stated.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Cuba calls Trump&#8217;s move \u201ccriminal\u201d and predicts repercussions<\/h3>\n<p>The Cuban government, for its part, accused the Trump Administration of \u201ccriminal conduct and violation of human rights\u201d following the signing of the memorandum that tightens economic pressure measures against the island.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the same time, it acknowledged that the country \u201cwill feel the impact\u201d of the new directive, although it emphasized that it will not be able to \u201cvanquish\u201d it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cThe Presidential Memorandum against Cuba released this Monday by the U.S. government reinforces the aggression style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Likewise, the Cuban Foreign Minister emphasized in his message that \u201cit is a criminal conduct and violates the human rights of an entire aggression against Cuba,\u201d alluding to politicians such as current Secretary of State Marco Rubio.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example, Deputy Foreign Minister Carlos Fern\u00e1ndez de Coss\u00edo <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/CarlosFdeCossio\/status\/1939810969158365299\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>noted<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> that the memorandum does not satisfy \u201cany U.S. national security interest\u201d and represents \u201cno benefit to the well-being of Americans,\u201d while maintaining that to justify its implementation, Washington \u201chas had to resort, as always, to slander and lies.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, Johana Tablada, Deputy Foreign Minister for the United States at the Foreign Ministry, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/JohanaTablada\/status\/1939810567373357565\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b>wondered<\/b><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, \u201cHow can it be claimed that strengthening a criminal siege is helping the Cuban people?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cSuffocation
