At the same time, the ministry he leads is fully focused on Asia and the Middle East, from where, according to ONEI, the number of visitors has been, if not zero, insignificant.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Tourism is fundamental to the government\u2019s plans due to its contribution to the gross domestic product (GDP) and the inflow of foreign currency it brings (traditionally behind only professional services and remittances).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cuba received 2.2 million international visitors in 2024, a total of 2.4 million in 2023 and 1.6 million in 2022, according to official data reported by <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">EFE<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> news
