She sang my songs. I met Celia, I lived with her, I met her on stage, on a plane, in a room, in a hallway, and Celia Cruz was a person full of love, a person who brought the name of Cuba to the most important and\u00a0humble places in the world. She made Cuban music so famous around the world and even today, several years after her death, she is still remembered, and everyone who is Cuban should feel proud to have someone as great as her.\u201d<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The\u00a0Mass honoring Celia Cruz\u2019s centennial took place in complete tranquility and spiritual peace, but surrounded by the events of recent days, when\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/cultura\/musica\/autoridades-de-cultura-cancelan-espectaculo-dedicado-a-celia-cruz-en-la-habana\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><b><span data-contrast=\"none\">Cuban cultural institutions once again canceled a tribute to her.<\/span><\/b><\/a><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cI think there\u00a0are many prejudices and\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0going against the tide, against history. There are things that\u00a0can\u2019t\u00a0be erased, much less taken away from\u00a0the\u00a0people. We artists are ambassadors with our music, and no matter how many obstacles or things\u00a0are\u00a0imposed, no one can stop us because, in the end, if we win people\u2019s hearts we will live in their\u00a0hearts\u00a0forever,\u201d\u00a0Yomil\u00a0says.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 1140px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img trying to blind and limit Celia\u2019s significance; but it\u2019s not a mystery, nor something that those of us who are familiar with this situation don\u2019t know,\u201d\u00a0declared Alain P\u00e9rez.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The 100th anniversary of the birth of the singer, who is one of the most important Cuban voices worldwide, has sparked debates on social media in recent days after the National Center for Popular Music suspended the presentation of a tribute\u00a0work\u00a0by Teatro El P\u00fablico scheduled at the F\u00e1brica de Arte Cubano.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Havana\u2019s important cultural center responded with an empty seat in the middle of the stage and an hour of silence at the time the performance was due to take place, followed by a musical session by the Queen of Salsa.<\/span><span
