The information was confirmed by CBS News, which also cited another U.S. official who supported this position.<\/p>\n<p>The statements contrast with the message posted Sunday by Trump on his social media, where he assured that \u201cthere will be no more oil or money going to Cuba: zero,\u201d at least as far as Venezuela is concerned.<\/p>\n<p>An official from the U.S. administration, quoted by CBS on condition of anonymity, <strong>indicated that Washington does not seek Cuba\u2019s collapse due to lack of fuel<\/strong>, although it does hope that the country will \u201cabandon its communist system.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Amid this scenario, Cuban President Miguel D\u00edaz-Canel assured that <a href=\"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/cuba-ee-uu\/no-existen-conversaciones-con-el-gobierno-de-eeuu-advierte-diaz-canel-tras-ultimas-declaraciones-de-trump\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>there are currently no talks with the Trump administration<\/strong><\/a>, beyond contacts limited to immigration matters.<\/p>\n<p>The island\u2019s energy situation has become more delicate after the capture of Venezuelan President Nicol\u00e1s Maduro, which left Cuba exposed to a negative impact due to the halt in bilateral relations with Venezuela, one of its main U.S.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>For her part, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum affirmed this Monday that her government could act as a \u201ccommunication vehicle\u201d between the United States and Cuba.<\/p>\n<p>However, she clarified that this issue was not discussed in her recent talks with Trump and that <strong>any mediation role would depend on the acceptance of both parties<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>It also was not reported<\/strong> whether the supply of oil from Mexico to Cuba was discussed, according to CBS News.<\/p>\n<p>Tensions between Washington and Havana have increased after the <em>Financial Times<\/em> reported that Mexico has become Cuba\u2019s main supplier of crude oil.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, however, Sheinbaum maintained that \u201cno more oil is being sent than has been sent historically\u201d and denied that there was \u201cany particular shipment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In this context, <strong>a tanker carrying approximately 86,000 barrels of fuel from Mexico<\/strong> arrived in Havana last Friday.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"wp-embedded-content\" data-secret=\"hXmjJiq80t\"><p><a large areas of the country, according to EFE news agency, citing data from the University of Texas Energy Institute.<\/p>\n<p>According to official figures, <strong>Cuba needs around 110,000 barrels of fuel per day<\/strong> to meet its basic energy needs, of which about 40,000 are produced domestically.<\/p>\n<p>Imported fuel accounts for nearly 60% of national consumption and more than half of it is used to power thermoelectric plants.<\/p>\n<p>Independent studies indicate that, in recent years, Mexico and Venezuela have been Cuba\u2019s main suppliers of hydrocarbons, with a smaller
