{"id":40521,"date":"2015-01-13T13:59:02","date_gmt":"2015-01-13T18:59:02","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/oncubamagazine.com\/?p=40521"},"modified":"2018-10-04T13:07:05","modified_gmt":"2018-10-04T17:07:05","slug":"maradona-says-he-is-happy-for-letter-from-fidel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oncubanews.com\/en\/cuba\/society-cuba\/maradona-says-he-is-happy-for-letter-from-fidel\/","title":{"rendered":"Maradona says he is &#8220;happy&#8221; for letter from Fidel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The legendary Argentine footballer Diego Armando Maradona on Monday received a letter from Fidel Castro to congratulate him after he appeared in two issues of Telesur TV series De Zurda, broadcast from Havana.<\/p>\n<p>I am &#8220;happy that he sent me the letter and excited to know he&#8217;s okay (health) and I really am super happy for the two De Zurda programs we did in Havana\u201d Maradona told reporters at the Jos\u00e9 Mart\u00ed airport in Havana, before traveling to Venezuela.<\/p>\n<p>These statements by Maradona come at a time when social networks have echoed again rumors about the alleged death of the former Cuban president, who hasn\u2019t been on TV for over a year.<\/p>\n<p>Maradona, a friend of Fidel\u00b4s, appears in the images broadcast by Telesur. One of the published photos shows the letter, typed, which is dated January 11 at &#8220;7.25 PM&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Maradona refered briefly to the contents of the letter, and then said good-bye sending a &#8220;salute to all Cubans. I love you &#8220;he added.<\/p>\n<p>For its part, the Uruguayan journalist Victor Hugo Morales, host of De Zurda with Maradona, was pleased with his stay in Cuba.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I leave with great gratitude.
