Getting access to the intimate routines of Cuba\u2019s main dance companies reveals all kinds of interesting trivia: that classical ballet dancers wear the most extravagant socks to keep their legs warm, that contemporary dancers are loud, that folk dancers don\u2019t like to do the Mambo, and that many of the members of Lizt Alfonso\u2019s Dance Company end up becoming control freaks.<\/p>\n

This video mixes the movements and habits, rehearsals and performances of some of the most important troupes in the country: Alicia Alonso’s National Ballet of Cuba, Lizt Alfonso\u2019s Dance Company, the Cuban Contemporary Dance Company, and the National Folk Dance Troupe.<\/p>\n
