In Ciego de Avila, a province in central Cuba, the tourism industry that flourishes in the northern cays is vital for the local economy.<\/p>\n
Moron is the closest city, and many of its residents work in those tourist resorts, or offer services of their own to the visitors.<\/p>\n
Two of the nearby cays alone, Cayo Coco and Cayo Guillermo, welcomed more than 390,000 visitors in 2015, and the area hosted the International Tourism Fair last year as well.<\/p>\n
The tourism industry continues to expand in the area, breaking its own records of visitors and inaugurating new hotels every year.<\/p>\n
Moron residents have taken advantage of the opportunity to provide tours of the area, using privately own horse-drawn carriages or the local train service. Some people have also set up private restaurants and souvenir shops.<\/p>\n
