Improving the fifth place of the previous edition is the goal of the Cuban team that will participate in the Fifth Women’s Baseball World Cup, to be held in the Canadian city of Edmonton. The event will run through next August 19.

The Cubans will have a difficult debut since they have to face their counterparts from Australia, runners-up in Venezuela 2010. "We know our responsibility, not only because we have been in the team longer, but also by the confidence of our director," said the captain and first basewoman Yuleidis Charon.

Under the command of capital and former second baseman for the Industriales team, Juan Padilla, 20 players from around the country wear the uniform of the four letters in this contest, played by the round robin system, which gives 4 berths to the medals discussion.

The team is made up by three catchers; five infielders, four outfielders and eight pitchers, and it will have as assistant trainers Julián Sarria (LHA), Osvaldo Torres (GRA) and Carlos González (LHA).

The catchers are Havana city Inima Vázquez and Mileidis Pupo, and Ciego de Avila´s Yordanka Rodríguez, while infielders will be Dainaris Morales  (CAV),  Dayanna Batista (GRA), Yaluani Cervantes (CAV) and Virgen Vargas (GRA).

Outfielders are Nilza Rodríguez (GRA), Odrisleisis  Peguero (CAV), Mariandy Torres (ART) and Yurismaris Báez (CMG), and pitchers are Raysa de Feria (LHA),Yaima Ramos(LHA), Olga L. Guevara (CAV), Ana B. Castellanos (GRA), Lianni Rodríguez (CAV), Mabel Cuello Rubio (GRA), Yanet Martínez (HOL), and Yanaisa Fabar (SCU).
