Telling Cuba’s reality is no longer the only goal of a large group of Cuban bloggers. Beginning this Sunday, July 7th, 2013, the consolidation and definition of the “Comunidad Blogosfera Cuba” penetrates the national reality as a new way of social participation.
While in the Havana’s Conventions Centre the National Assembly of People’s Power (ANPP by its Spanish acronym) conducted its first regular sessions, at the same time and for three days, the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Centre hosted over forty bloggers from different provinces in search of concerting efforts and interest on “the shared vision of a better Cuba.”
Beyond blogs, opinions and personal agendas of its members, Blogosfera Cuba seeks to articulate spaces and actions, inside and outside the networks, where constant discussion and participation generate new and improved contents towards the network as well as the necessary social impact.
Internet a ccess to a sector of the population, mostly journalists, makes the Cuban press gaps, the needs of expression outside the traditional boundaries and urgency of public agendas more in line with reality to be some of the core marks bloggers must assume.
According to this, teachers Elaine Diaz and Rosa Miriam Elizalde dealt in their workshops new forms of socialization that internet has made possible in Cuba and how this may influence on generating a society with other ways of behaving and circulation of information through new interaction networks.
In turn, several personalities shared this weekend with bloggers in their workshops and discussions: Rene Gonzalez, Ricardo Alarcon de Quesada, Edmundo Garcia and Spanish actor Willy Toledo exchanged views, questions and answers about Cuban reality and blogging particularities in Cuba.
However, jokes aside on ” first class event”, the weekend meeting brought together friends who have climbed the Turquino Peak, who have visited the Zapata Swamp and organized events like ¨TwittHab¨.
It is no coincidence then that friendship uniting them comes from shared project of what the nation should be and, as main policy of ¨B logosfera Cuba, ¨ they are seeking for the inclusion of as many Cubans bloggers -inside and outside Cuba- in a plural, diverse, respectful of individualities, but with well-defined collective interests space.
Blogosfera Cuba is present in most of the social networks and technologically serves as a way of accessing to the various blogs that have requested their inclusion.
At the end of one afternoon of discussion, the words by Rev. Raul Suarez, Director of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Centre and ANPP deputy, moved everyone when unconditionally offered the help of the institution he leads because “we essentially fight for the same, for building in our country a more just and humane society “.
In the coming months, Blogosfera Cuba has already planned its next meeting, which is aimed at uniting and building on the basis agreed this weekend.
