Katapulk

Katapulk Marketplace has announced through a press release that as of August 1st the platform is selling all products “exactly at cost, with no hidden margins.”

The main novelty is that Katapulk does not make any profit on the price of the items. This is the first Cuban e-commerce model that is 100% at cost price.

“The only additional transaction charge is the KATAPULK SERVICE, a flat fee of US$7.99 that covers the value of the service provided by the platform by directly connecting buyers with suppliers that are part of the Katapulk ecosystem,” the message explains.

“This fee also guarantees safe payments, regulatory compliance and customer service,” the statement adds.

Customers and vendors benefit

With this new business model, users will be able to make the most of their budgets and send more food, toiletries, medicines, hardware and household supplies and essential items to family members on the island.

Vendors who use the platform will be able to multiply their sales, accelerate their product turnover and boost their business operations.

The products sold on Katapulk come from private Cuban entrepreneurs and independent importers.

More than 150 different suppliers and stores participate in the Katapulk platform.

Pillars of the new program

The company has identified four pillars of this new commercial approach:

  • PRODUCTS AT COST: The price shown to the buyer is exactly the supplier’s price: no surprises.
  • CLEAR FLAT RATE: KATAPULK SERVICE – US$7.99 for each order, with no minimum or purchase limit. Since this is a fixed fee, not a percentage, the savings increase with each added item.
  • FLEXIBLE AND TRANSPARENT LOGISTICS: Deliveries to all 15 Cuban provinces, with delivery costs determined by each store on the platform. SMS/WhatsApp notifications at each stage of the shipment.
  • MULTI-STORE CART: Products from different stores are combined in a single transaction for greater convenience.

And now also by phone, 24/7

Katapulk Marketplace has also launched a telephone sales service to facilitate accessibility.

To this end, it has opened a telephone channel that operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week at +1 (855) 590-2816.

This telephone channel is available from anywhere in the world and is free for calls from the United States.

This will allow users to place their orders with just one call, without having to visit the website or download any apps.

Customer service is also reinforced with a WhatsApp channel at +1 (555) 706-9075.

A strong commitment to Cuban families and the private sector

The Cuban private sector has an important ally in this platform, according to Katapulk Marketplace.

Entrepreneurs and importers who participate in the marketplace aimed at providing Cuban families with essential products and services can use the Katapulk platform.

Cubans in the diaspora will be able to increase their purchases for their families on the island.

“This model — inspired by best global practices — maximizes the value of each dollar from the diaspora and boosts the competitiveness of small Cuban businesses by eliminating intermediate margins and publishing each cost.”

“Katapulk revolutionizes the market for Cuba and puts well-being, transparency and real access for Cuban families at the center,” the company’s statement concluded.
