Gema Corredera in Havana

Rainy afternoon in Havana and Pablo de la Torriente Centre honors Marta Valdés. She, w ith sympathy, interacts with the audience and sings her songs in a place which usually welcomes young people who go to listen to trova music. People even cried after hearing Guitarra Portillana, a song she wrote to remind the great Cuban composer César Portillo de la Luz. She invited Gema Corredera to the stage, who played three tracks, two of them were authored by the honoree. Gema told OnCuba she arrived in Havana on Thursday afternoon in private travel. According to her, she will not offer formal presentations or statements to the press. She is just developing a musical project that will be recorded in a Cuban studio accompanied by musicians living in Cuba, for what she will be back in February 2014. Gema, who stopped living in Cuba for more than twenty years, said this is a journey to feel her country close again. Yesterday she met with the singer Ivette Cepeda and went to Don Cangrejonightclub to hear Kelvis Ochoa . There she shared the stage with Martha, the saxophonist of Lucia Huergo, guitarist Rey Ugarte, the duo Jade, Yussa and the troubadourMarta Campos. In February OnCuba will be back with more news about Gema Corredera, a woman who claims to spend most of her time studying and working to be a better professional.
