Information note of the Cuba Interests Section in Washington

On December 6, 2013, the M & T bank informed the Cuba Interests Section in Washington its decision to grant an extension to the closure of the accounts of the Cuban diplomatic mission in the U.S., until March 1st 2014, stating that it will receive deposits for consular services until February 17, 2014 .

The Interests Section reports that it will reopen consular services immediately , temporarily , until February 17, 2014 .

The Interests Section of Cuba continues to make efforts to identify a new bank to take over the operation of its accounts and, to the extent that this is achieved, will be able to permanently normalize consular services.

The Interests Section of Cuba regrets the inconvenience caused to the Cubans and Americans for the suspended consular services on November 26, 2013 and will provide timely information on developments in this matter.
