Paso del Toa is a rural community on the bank of one of Cuba’s largest rivers, the Toa River, after which it has been named. Every year, sports promoters from the province of Guantanamo travel to the small town to take part in the local games.

The event is an opportunity to measure themselves against their neighbors. These competitions date back to many years, and although there are all kinds of matches, water sports competitions are the most common, because of the proximity of the river.
