A black and white picture showing statues of Abraham Lincoln and Jose Marti (Cuba’s national hero) won a photography contest organized by the U.S. Interests Section in Havana to celebrate the ties between the United States and Cuba.
Fifty participants submitted a total of 73 pictures to the consideration of a jury made up by professional photographers, USINT General Services Officer Andres Valdes, and Michael Franklin, husband of an American official.
The jury agreed to grant one first place only to the abovementioned piece by Briseida Sierra Pellicer, and four honorable mentions.
An exhibit will be organized with the winning pictures.
