More than 4,000 irregular migrants returned to Cuba this year

Ministry of the Interior reports that, with the most recent flight, there have been 90 return operations from different countries so far this year.

The total number of irregular migrants returned to Cuba from different countries in the region total 4,030 so far in 2023, after the 38 deported this Friday by the government of the Bahamas, reported the Ministry of the Interior (MININT).

The members of this group of Cuban migrants had participated in two illegal exits from the island, through the central province of Ciego de Ávila.

With this flight, there have been 90 return operations from different countries so far this year, the Ministry said in a note on Twitter.

On June 6, the government of the Bahamas returned three other illegal migrants to Cuba as part of the migration agreements between the two countries.

Although the largest number of Cuban irregular migrants deported in these operations come from the United States, groups have also been returned from Belize, the Cayman Islands, the Dominican Republic and Mexico.
