We are back with dance this week so you can keep on track if you liked last week proposals. This time there is Lizt Alfonso dance Cuba with two presentations in the Cuba National Theatre. And as we like you have more than one option there is also the presentations of the Cuba Spanish Ballet in the Great Theatre. This is the beginning. Follow our lead.

In music, we have things for people here and the other side. Keep looking further down. In visual arts there are new expos and talks with artists. In the FAC proposals, as usually, we have a lot. And in cinema, the presence of Cuba in the Doc Fortnight 2018 in MoMa, and in the island the premiere of a documentary directed by the actress Isabel Santos. Would you like to find out more? Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba in the National Theatre

Tomorrow 17th, at 8:30pm, and Sunday 18th, at 5:00pm, Alas, winner performance at the UNEAC Choreography Award 2006, will be for the first time in the stage of Avellaneda Hall of the Cuba National Theatre. Right after these presentations the company will perform in the festival of Navrasa Duende Global Carnival, in New Dheli.

Cuba Spanish Ballet

Garcia Lorca Hall of the Great Theatre of Havana, presents this weekend the Cuba Spanish Ballet, Friday and Saturday at 8:38pm, and Sunday at 5:00pm.

Cuban Style in Miami

Third Edition of the Miami International GuitArt Festival (MIGF) in the Florida International University School of Music. Thanks to the supports of the Knight Arts Challenge Award of the Knight Foundation, this festival is dedicated to Cuban music and there will be extraordinary artists performing in 11 concerts, six master classes, five conferences and one composer panel.

The MIGF has been a successful annual event thanks to all the invited artists, their sponsors, voluntary students and the audience. You can see pictures and videos of the festival in the event web page: http://migf.fiu.edu/2018/.

Idan Raichel and Danay Suarez in Miami

Idan Raichel, leader of the band Idan Raichel Project in the past 15 years, will perform in the Adrienne Arts Center in Miami, tomorrow 17th, at 8:30pm. Also, Danay Suarez, a Cuban Latin Grammy 2017 nominee will be special guest in the Raichel concert. They sang “Closer now” together in the last Suarez album.

Rock in the Pabellon

Today at 6:00pm, Athanai concert in the Pabellon Cuba.

Ivette Cepeda in concert

Tomorrow, Ivette Cepeda and her Grupo Reflexion will offer a concert in Cafe Jazz Miramar (5th ave and 94 St, Playa) at 10:00pm.

Afrocuban funk for everyone

Cimafunk in concert next Wednesday 21st, at 11:00pm, in EFE Bar (23rd Ave, #605 bw F and E, Vedado).

As part of the encounters Talking About Contemporary Art, the guest artist will be Ariamna Contino talking about her most recent work. Next Thursday 22nd, at 3:00pm, in Galeria Hanaba (Linea #460 bw E and F, Vedado).

Fototeca de Cuba invites to the show Cuando mi vecino ruge…, today 16th, at 6:00pm. It is a group of images where animal are the main characters of 23 photographers.

Cuba and Dominican Republic from multiples looks

The collective show Multiple miradas desde la Republica Dominicana will be inaugurated today, at 5:00pm, in the Centro Hispanoamericano de la Cultura (Malecon Ave. #17 bw Prado and Carcel).

9:30pm: DJ Resident Ivan Lejardi. Nave 1.

11:00pm: Hector Tellez Jr. in concert. Tellez with a new band in this concert will present his own new songs, fusion rock and roll, blues and pop. Nave 4.

12:00am: Open Jazz Jam with Marcos Morales. This is a young drum player, currently part of the Dayme Arocena project. Nave 1.

SÁBADO 17 FEBRERO

Saturday, February 17th

9:00pm: Fashion: “Tendencias Color”. Cuban designers propose design and color for 2018 wardrobe. Nave 3.

9:30pm: DJ Resident Ivan Lejardi. Nave 1.

11:00pm: Zule Guerra in concert. Nave 1.

12:00am: Rock and Roll in FAC: Habalama. This group play a really Cuban rock. Nave 1.

Sunday, February 18th

9:00pm: Duo Manasse and Nakamatsu in concert. Well recognized American musicians and current artistic directors of the Classic Music Festival of Cape Cod, internationally known. Nave 3.

10:00pm: Play: Andamio. El Publico Group Theatre. Directed by Janier Palmero. While two workers are cleaning a skyscraper glass windows they talk about their personal lives representing one part of the nowadays society. Nave 3.

10:30pm: Surconciente in Concert. This is a group of two Colombian singer- songwriter sisters and some friends. They fusion different Latin-American traditional rhythms with lyrics about peace and harmony. Nave 1.

11:00pm: DNA Music with Ernesto Blanco. A space to talk about the artist and their music. Nave 4.

Cuba opens Doc Fortnight

The 2017 documentary “Habanero” by Julien Temple will open Doc Fortnight 2018, the annual international festival of non-fiction movies at MoMA. This event reaches its 17th editions and it will last 12 days with innovates approaches to the documentary. With a broad variety of characteristics and short films from around the world, the festival continuous highlighting vibrant styles and different independents filmmakers either new ones or already establish around the world. From February 15th to 26th, Doc Fortnight 2018 will screen 20 documentaries and wide program of short films.

Gloria City by Isabel Santos

Next Wednesday 21st, at 8:30pm, will be the premiere of the documentary Gloria City directed by Isabel Santos, in Cine 23 y 12. The film was presented recently in Camaguey, and is based on the book Conversacion con el ultimo norteamericano by Enrique Cirules. It alredy won collaterals prizes in the XXXIX Havana International Film Festival.
