After President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address last night, a phrase related to Cuba caught almost by chance by one of the microphones quickly gained notoriety.

“Bob, I gotta talk to you about Cuba,” said the president smiling to Senator Bob Menéndez, according to Fox.

The moment was caught on C-SPAN cameras as Biden spoke with Menéndez and Adam Schiff.

Menéndez, for his part, replied “Okay,” while Biden stressed in the same tone: “I’m serious.”

Bob Menéndez, who is a Cuban-American Democratic lawmaker, serves as chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, an influential group to initiate legislative proposals in the House.

Open letter to Joe Biden calls for United States to normalize its relations with Cuba

“I am dismayed to learn the Biden administration will begin authorizing group travel to Cuba through visits akin to tourism. To be clear, those who still believe that increasing travel will breed democracy in Cuba are simply in a state of denial.”

The statements were released by the Senate Foreign Relations Committee regarding one of the first changes in U.S. policy towards Cuba announced by the Biden administration.
