From November 7 to 17, the Cultural Festival with Cubans Living Abroad “Cuba va conmigo” returns to Cuba, this time in the context of the 15th Havana Biennial.
This is why the Biennial invites people to share spaces with all forms of art with the idea of ”the cultural wealth that brings together the work of cultural personalities with consolidated careers abroad and of talented young people who carry the Cuban identity,” Cubasí pointed out.
In this regard, students from art schools will be able to hold exchanges, as well as visit community projects. Meanwhile, the award ceremony for the children’s and youth contest “Cuba va conmigo” will take place, designed for descendants of Cubans living abroad.
Likewise, residents abroad and their descendants who wish to participate in international cooperation projects and investment businesses, based on the development of arts and culture, “will have the opportunity to interact with enterprise executives and entrepreneurs in the cultural sphere.”
This year, the event will have a hybrid format (in-person and virtual), and will bring together various cultural presentations in all forms of art, with a marked emphasis on weekend programming, in theaters and other cultural spaces in Havana.
“Cuba va conmigo” is convened by the Ministry of Culture and supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The first edition of the “Cuba va conmigo” Festival was held in 2021, and more than 80 Cuban creators living abroad participated, invited by the authorities.
The second event was held days before the 4th The Nation and Emigration Conference, which took place in Havana on November 18 and 19, after being postponed due to the pandemic.
The festival is consolidated as “a space for dialogue and exchange” with compatriots abroad. It serves as a bridge to strengthen artistic and cultural ties with the country and its audiences. In addition, it highlights “the value of artistic training in Cuba” and promotes the unity of Cubans “in the defense of their sovereignty.”
