A new mobile application that allows access to information about the Cuban Railroad Union’s train service is now available to users on the island, according to the local media.
With the 46-megabyte “Trenes” app it is possible to keep track of the itineraries, departure times, arrival times and travel time, the Cubadebate site indicated.
The application has a main screen through which information is provided on all the services related to national trains: the cost of the tickets, information on stops and stations, and general conditions of service.
It also provides telephone numbers and customer service emails through which complaints and suggestions about the program and transport service can be sent, explains the article published in Cubadebate.
Users with mobile data can know the status and itinerary of the trip and obtain in real time the position, speed, stops and estimated time of arrival of the trains.
The application was developed by the state company Geocuba and comes with this Saturday’s start of operations of the first Chinese trains out of the group of 80 acquired by the Cuban government.
The initial trip will be covering the Havana-Santiago route at a price ranging from 75 to 95 CUP. The latter offer includes air conditioning service.
Minister of Transportation Eduardo Rodríguez Dávila recently told local media that each car is valued at half a million dollars and said that another 80 vehicles is expected to arrive next year.
