The popular duo Buena Fe is engaged in preparations for the concert presentation of Dial, its latest album, on February 8-9 at the Karl Marx Theater in Havana City.

For many it is impressive the work rate with which Israel Rojas and Yoel Martinez assume music creation and production, and is that in just over 13 years together, guitar in hand and good personal songs, Buena Fe has presented seven discs of singular success inside and outside our borders.

On the CD and a new project that the duo takes along with other Cuban artists to pay tribute to José Martí, Israel Rojas, singer and director of the group, said.

What is the Buena Fe proposal in Dial?

The album, which will be released in the concerts of Karl Marx, is a material that we are really very happy with, but coming out this year , it was conceived in 2012 when the Cuban Radio arrived at its 90th anniversary, hence the name, because with the CD we salute this institution, one of the largest experience and quality media in the country.

That was the leitmotif for a number of ideas to converge and an album like Dial to come out, licensed with EGREM and we hope the audience will find it interesting.

Do you keep the line of work of the duo?

The aesthetics of the album follow the regular work of Buena Fe, trying to find new sound ways but telling the life of the young people in general, regardless of age.

The CD consists of 13 songs, almost all of my authorship, except Fly without you, I wrote in tune with Spanish singer Andrés Suárez.

The arrangements are by Yoel Martinez, Ernesto Cisneros, keyboard player, saxophonist Ernesto Camilo Vega, trumpeter John Kemel and pianist Aldo Lopez-Gavilan, among others.

On the tribute to José Martí …

Buena Fe produces a record to pay tribute to the most universal of Cubans, and in this desire not to overlook the 160th anniversary of the birth of the Apostle; several artists have joined us from the most varied musical trends.

In relation to this we already had previous experience in Pi 3.14, with the song Todo el mundo cuenta, and we found it beautiful that in our repertoire we had a song dedicated to Marti, which led to the creation of other songs that were inspired by his life and work.

So we came up producing a CD in which Buena Fe and that other artists could sing to the Maestro, and in this adventure we have worked with, among others, Adrian Berazaín, Eduardo Sosa, and Arnaldo Rodriguez, and also we want to record a song with a rapper from the Hip-Hop movement in Cuba.

We are still bringing together enthusiasts, anyone who wants to join this beautiful idea of paying tribute to Marti.

Of course there will not be all those who will want because the disk will have a limited number of songs, hopefully oscillate between 12 and 20, but it is done with great care.

This work sponsored by the José Martí Cultural Society, and we want it to be ready for September.

How much of Martí’s in Israel and in the music of Buena Fe?

In my particular case, since the university I became a convinced Marti follower, and from there his ideology has marked my way of seeing the world, of interpreting reality, even to carry personal relationships. Marti is part of my life and therefore you can find him in the odd song, is one of those pillars that are always and I have always tried to honor him, not to betray him and we want our work to grow under his shade.

The enthusiasm of all those related to this project and the nobility of its character, could be a motive that encourage others to honor Marti from their particular artistic and humanistic vision.
