Buena Fe Lashes Apocalyptic Prophesies

Buena Fe charged against fears and apocalyptic prophesies in a mega-concert attended by thousands of fans, who didn’t believe either the “Pi 3.14”
Their followers sang along the sticky chorus that gives name to the seventh album of the band led by Israel Rojas and Yoel Martínez, undoubtedly the one that attracts the largest number of university students.

At the Havana University’s steps, a scenario nobody packs like them, Buena Fe wrapped up its national tour dedicated to Cuban students, and as usual it didn’t disappoint anybody.

Without much fanfare, despite the technological deployment, the concert pleased those legions of followers that were handed a taste of some of the new songs (Ojeo and Acompáñame) from the yet unreleased album: “Dial”

It was the whole package: ideal to dance, jump, lose your voice, to make and see friends, to share a drink and release tensions, and, as usual, not a single brawl.

That is the kind of audience Buena Fe draws. As usual Yoel played with his usual calm, the perfect sidekick for a provocative and talkative Israel, a lead singer who knows what to say and is not afraid of doing it.

In fact, he dedicated the song “En Cueros” to the winner of the 2012 National Literature Prize Leonardo Padura, a symbol of criticism and commitment to today’s youth.

Before that, Israel invited Frank Delgado to sing “Españolito” and Descemer Bueno for “Ser de Sol” and then surprised everybody with two guests nobody was expecting, since they have left Cuba: the Valdivia brothers, Boni and Kelly.

“This is the change of era, no doubts, a proof that times are changing” Israel joked and during the night he lashed the December 21 end of the world prophesy. He even invited the audience to mock the person who started that rumor two minutes before the change of the year by chewing a good piece of roasted pork.

The concert included their classics: “Mamífero nacional”, “Lotería”, “Fin de fiesta” and closed with “Miedos” without Los Aldeanos duo, but with the same message to those who must, or at least should, change what needs to be changed: enough of childish fears, living the only life we get is not worthy if we live it in fear.

Everyone enjoyed the concert with rapt attention, but somebody says that, on top of the obelisk were the remains of leader Julio Antonio Mella, the spirit of the brave youngster was clapping. And really meaning it…
