Sicodélica Estelar is the third music production of the Cuban group Qva Libre, with the Bis Music label and will be released with new claims, the same style and ways of making music but with certain requirements.

“Since the start of the group and so far we have tried to look for a trademark that identifies us and this album is where it is well defined, musically, what Qva Libre is, which it represents artistically, where we are going to and what is the way to do it,” Carlos Diaz, director of the group, said.

This CD will have some 12 or 14 tracks sung also by Leoni Torres, David Blanco, Elain y Los Desiguales, all of them as special guests.

On the specifics of this musical production, Carlos Diaz said they faced for the first making a real disk. “The two previous albums were independent productions and this work has been easier because we have the backing and support of a record company.”

Carlos De La Vega, sound engineer of this album said that working with Qva Libre has been among his best experiences. “It’s a very dynamic, with great desires to make, to create, to think truly about the art that these days demand and especially I respect greatly the fusion with elements of electronic music and acoustic instruments made by these guys, I feel I am also part of Qva Libre. ”

Why making fusion music?

When people talk about the music of Qva Libre, they place it within fusion or alternative music. “I never thought of the word fusion, I just wanted to do something different from the beginning,” Carlos Diaz said.

He further said that the root, the strongest base of the band is the traditional funky style, courtyard style, Cuban style: merengue, cumbia, bolero “and this has made the audience to label us makers of fusion music”.

The lyrics of this album are full of energy and positivity. Miguel Angel Torres, singer and rapper of Qva Libre, said the concept of this group is aimed at the musical work and the message, “the lyrics are more urban because we want to convey much happiness, great faith and great hope.”

For the first time Qva Libre includes an unreleased track in its repertoire. Osmany Espinosa is the composer of the lyrics and this is the song that will announce the next musical production by the group.

Psychedelic was a cultural movement that emerged in Cuba during the seventies of the last century and responds to the presence of high contrasts and colors. Is this the reason why Qva Libre assumes the variety of colors in its video clips.

“Our essence is still a smile,” Carlos Diaz said. But Qva Libre is also an opportunity, a space, a color, and each one of them the story of its musicians, a few musicians that one day, perhaps daring, prefer the art, the songs, the love and the group that simply makes them happy today.
