The famous statue of Don Quixote, one of the symbols of Vedado  neigborhood, located in the corner of 23rd street and K, has a cousin 690 kilometers east of Havana city. Almost at the end of the walk of the Puerto Padre city, we find another Quixote, this one without his Sancho and his horse, tilting at a windmill.

The sculpture ensemble was created by artists Elevis Báez and Pedro Escobar, from Las Tunas, a Cuban province dubbed by many as the capital of Cuba sculpting, due to the many expressions of big format pieces that artists have placed throughout the land.

Then, Puerto Padre is home to its own Quixote, lean and lanky, standing, with spear in hand and facing the windmill, and the sea that waits for him a few feet away.

Don Quixote keeps fighting his battles. The long stay in the world has not prevented him from further undoing wrongs his own way, no matter if he is in the middle of the bustle of a popular avenue in Havana or in the quiet slumber of a provincial town.
