Eight new cases: Cuba now has 48 persons infected by coronavirus

According to the report, 1,229 people are hospitalized on the island; 174 of them are foreigners and 1,055 Cubans.

With eight new positive cases, the number of those infected with COVID-19 in Cuba amounts to 48. The information was released by the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) and includes the figures registered until midnight yesterday, March 23.

New infected cases were reported in several provinces; and this time most of them are Cubans.

CONFIRMED CASES OF CORONAVIRUS IN CUBA

New cases:

A 57-year-old Cuban citizen, from Plaza de la Revolución municipality, Havana, who arrived in Cuba on March 15 from Spain. That day she started having symptoms and on the 18th she was hospitalized in the Dr. Luís Díaz Soto Naval Hospital as a suspected case. Her evolution is satisfactory so far.

Another 42-year-old Cuban, from the municipality and province of Pinar del Río. He arrived on March 11 from Montevideo, Uruguay. Five days later he started having symptoms and on the 20th he was hospitalized in the León Cuervo Rubio Hospital. He continues with a satisfactory evolution.

A 60-year-old Cuban from El Cotorro, Havana province. She arrived on March 15 from Asturias, Spain. On the 17th she had symptoms and on the 19th she was hospitalized in the Dr. Luís Díaz Soto Hospital. She continues with a satisfactory evolution.

A 60-year-old Russian citizen, with residence in Playa municipality. She arrived on March 15 from the Dominican Republic. She started having symptoms on the 18th and the following day she was hospitalized in the Pedro Kourí Institute of Tropical Medicine (IPK). Her evolution is satisfactory.

A 36-year-old Cuban citizen with residence in the United States. He resides in the Palma Soriano municipality, Santiago de Cuba province. He arrived on March 21 from the United States, began with symptoms on the 15th and on the 22nd he was hospitalized in Villa Colibrí as a suspected case. He continues with a satisfactory evolution.

A 42-year-old Cuban citizen from Ciego de Ávila. She arrived in the country on March 15 from Louisiana, United States. She had symptoms on the 17th and on the 19th she was hospitalized in the Nguyen Van Troi Isolation Center. Satisfactory evolution.

A 49-year-old Cuban citizen with a history of high blood pressure. He resides in the Taguasco municipality, Sancti Spíritus province. He arrived on March 17 from the Dominican Republic. His symptoms began on the 17th and on the 21st he was hospitalized in the Rehabilitation Hospital as a suspected case. Satisfactory evolution.

A 49-year-old Cuban citizen with a history of high blood pressure and diabetes mellitus. He resides in Placetas municipality, Villa Clara province. He arrived on March 20 from the United States. He started with symptoms on the 21st and on the 22nd he was hospitalized in the Manuel Piti Fajardo Hospital as a suspected case. He continues with a satisfactory evolution so far.

The good news is that the first hospitalized patient has been discharged since yesterday. He was at the IPK and is 25 years old. He lives in Santa Clara, Villa Clara.

Of the 48 patients diagnosed with the disease, 46 remain hospitalized. The condition of two of them is critical, and severe, respectively.

According to the report, 1,229 people are hospitalized on the island; 174 of them are foreigners and 1,055 Cubans.

In Cuba, 33,132 persons are being kept under home observation through the primary health care system.
