A total of 51 batches of Cuban art and 38 artists make up the XII edition of Havana Auction, to be held on November 5 at the Taganana Room of Havana´s Hotel Nacional, said Luis Miret, vice president of the event.

Miret said at a news conference Friday that the auction resumes its original feature to include just the plastic arts. On the decorative arts he said that in recent times they have become mainly of museum interest.

He also stated that the work submitted for this year’s event belong to the period between the beginning of the twentieth century to the present, and are included in the trends of the academia, avant-garde and contemporary. They excel in selecting the names of the artists Servando Cabrera Moreno, Cundo Bermúdez, José María Mijares, Lolo Soldevilla, Mariano Rodríguez, René Portocarrero and Victor Manuel.

A novel element in this auction is the presentation for the first time a sheet by Wifredo Lam, a pastel and charcoal from 1955.

Other artists with pieces for sale are Ruperto Jay Matamoros, Ernesto Gonzalez Puig, Angel Acosta Leon Sandú Darié, Eduardo Abela, Julio Girona, René Peña, Moses Finalé Ivan Capote, José Bedia, Los carpinteros and Roberto Fabelo.

Among the most valuable works is the bronze sculpture Flora recogedora de sueños, by artist Cundo Bermudez, with a value ranging between 150 and 160 thousand Euros.
