The legendary Argentine footballer Diego Armando Maradona on Monday received a letter from Fidel Castro to congratulate him after he appeared in two issues of Telesur TV series De Zurda, broadcast from Havana.
I am “happy that he sent me the letter and excited to know he’s okay (health) and I really am super happy for the two De Zurda programs we did in Havana” Maradona told reporters at the José Martí airport in Havana, before traveling to Venezuela.
These statements by Maradona come at a time when social networks have echoed again rumors about the alleged death of the former Cuban president, who hasn’t been on TV for over a year.
Maradona, a friend of Fidel´s, appears in the images broadcast by Telesur. One of the published photos shows the letter, typed, which is dated January 11 at “7.25 PM”.
Maradona refered briefly to the contents of the letter, and then said good-bye sending a “salute to all Cubans. I love you “he added.
For its part, the Uruguayan journalist Victor Hugo Morales, host of De Zurda with Maradona, was pleased with his stay in Cuba.
“I leave with great gratitude. It has been professionally rewarding, we have had a very good time with Diego and the programs left us very satisfied and people greeted them warmly, “Morales said and said that De Zurda will continue in late February in Venezuela, and then in Jamaica, Uruguay and other nations to reach Chile in the Copa America.
