Carnival Cruises Corporation and its Fathom Company have just announced two new departures to Cuba from the United States. This is the only U.S. franchise that connects both countries in this modality.

Expected for next October 9 and November 6, the extension meets an increase in demand. Tara Varga Russel, president of the company, said that ever since their inaugural trip, in early May, they had experienced a strong and ongoing demand by travelers who want to go to Cuba with the comfort and peacefulness of the Fathom cruises.

She added that the reservations for autumn are strong, and the word is spreading: going to Cuba on a Fathom cruise is the best way, easier and more agreeable, to visit that unique country.

The CEO specified that the capacities for the rest of the year have almost run out and only a few cabins of the 700 on the Adonia, the ship that has covered the historic route, are available.

For seven days the Adonia makes a tour of the island, with stopovers in the ports of Havana, Cienfuegos and Santiago de Cuba. According to Carnival’s press release, in the surveys the Fathom guests are giving a high rating to the experience in the three destinations.

Kimberli McCallum, a passenger on the Adonia, said it was her first cruise trip and she could not believe how much she loved it. She and her husband were seated in the balcony of their room one night and they asked themselves why they had waited so much to go on a cruise. In addition, visiting Cuba was better than I imagined, she said, adding that Havana is so beautiful and its art, music and people are incredible.

Tara Varga Russel even invited popular U.S. comedian and TV host Jimmy Fallon to record one of his programs on board the Adonia.

With departures on Sundays at 3:30 p.m. from the port of Miami, the cruise ship arrives in Havana at 11:00 a.m. the following day. It returns to its point of departure a week later, after an “immersion” in Cuban culture, in a modality being called social impact trips and which is due to the fact that U.S. citizens are banned from traveling to Cuba as tourists.
