Not even because of COVID-19, or perhaps because of that, did Cubans stop attending El Rincón, the temple of one of the most popular saints in Cuba: Babalú Ayé, San Lázaro, the protector of lepers who has his throne in the Rincón National Sanctuary.
EFE photojournalist Ernesto Mastracusa arrived there, and what you will see below was what his camera captured.
The wake is starting
Oh, what do we do to Babalú
Give me seventeen candles
To place them crosswise.
(Song: Miguelito Valdés)
