MINSAP suggests a third COVID-19 booster dose

The process will take place gradually and includes the population between the ages of 19 and 69.

The Cuban Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) suggested approving a third COVID-19 booster dose starting next month, according to a report by Prensa Latina (PL) news agency.

The process will take place gradually and includes the population between the ages of 19 and 69.

According to the official newspaper Granma, the process will begin once the period established for the application of the second booster shot is completed.

The information came out this Tuesday from a meeting between experts and scientists with President Miguel Díaz-Canel.

The Cuban health authorities plan to determine the annual COVID-19 vaccination periodicity so that it is included in the National Immunization Program.

To date, 10,731,335 people have received at least one dose. Of these, 9,450,488 already have the second, while the third has been applied to 9,148,870 people.

90.7% of the population has a complete vaccination scheme and a total of 8,712,929 people have booster doses, according to PL.

Cuba has applied the nationally produced immunogens Soberana 02, Soberana Plus, and Abdala.
