The hundredth worldwide presentation of the Misa Cubana piece, dedicated to the Virgin of Charity of Cobre, will be held this Sunday at the Covarrubias Hall of the National Theater of Cuba. This work, composed and directed by José María Vitier, gathers for its implementation important musicians and celebrates the 400th anniversary of the appearance of the image of the Patroness of Cuba.

This concert wraps up a series of presentations Vitier and his guests  offered throughout  the East of the country after Hurricane Sandy.

"The Mass of Cuba", as teacher Maria Felicia Perez defined it, "combines and merges the most authentic elements of Cuban music and sacred art." Furthermore, it establishes a link between artists and the public because it calls on emotions and spirit.

The concert will also include the exhibition "Angels and visions" of Silvia Rodriguez and in the same soloists Maria Felicia Perez, Amaury Perez and Augusto Enriquez will perform along the Exaudi choir and Soloists of Havana Chamber Orchestra. Its thirtieth presentation in Cuba will close with the premiere of the piece "At the base of your altars" created for Liuba María Hevia and interpretation of "Ave Maria for Cuba" by Barbara Llanes.

Misa Cubana premiered in 1996 at the Cathedral of Havana and has been interpreted in important national and international stages such as France, Italy, Spain, Denmark, Argentina, Brazil, Portugal, Switzerland, among others.
