The Orquesta Aragón, led by Rafael Lay, announced the postponement of its “Icono Tour” of four cities in the United States. It would start next Friday, April 8, but now it will start on the 27th of the same month.

As reported from its Facebook profile, the postponement is due to “reasons beyond its control”. The journey begins on April 27 in Los Angeles and continues to Miami (28), New York (29), and San Francisco (30).

Prensa Latina (PL) news agency, taking into account what “various publications” are commenting, pointed out that the postponement could be due to immigration obstacles, since last year they faced a similar situation with the tour scheduled for August 2022.

On that occasion, the group was forced to change the schedule of presentations, like Los Van Van, PL recalled.

After the performances in the United States, Aragón will visit the Dominican Republic and Colombia, with a repertoire that includes many of its classics in a history spanning eight decades.

This tour’s forte, however, and according to PL, will be the songs from its last two albums: Ícono and Cha cha chá: homenaje a lo tradicional, with which it won the Latin Grammy in 2020, and 2021 with singers Alain Pérez and Issac Delgado, in the category of Best Traditional Tropical Album.

Founded on September 30, 1939, by Orestes Aragón, the group boasts a distinctive sound, which constitutes its letter of introduction in the international industry with numerous awards.

The Aragón has taken its music to countries such as Panama, Venezuela, Guatemala, the United States, Colombia, Chile, Puerto Rico, Nicaragua, Mexico, and other twenty countries on all continents.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) declared the Aragon a World Heritage in 2005 and awarded it the Pablo Picasso Medal, according to PL.
