Vidatox effectiveness against cancer: the debate

The expectations for the cure of cancer through the use of Cuban medicine Vidatox 30 CH (venom extracted from the Junceus Rhopalurus scorpion), are questioned by members of the Cuban scientific community, which consider it is only a complementary homeopathic product.

The debate provoked a pronouncement from the State Center for Control of Drugs, Equipment and Medical Devices (CECMED), which in its capacity as national regulation authority ruled that Vidatox can be used as "complementary therapy to treat symptoms caused by the effects of cancer and pain relief, considering that no scientific evidence has been presented to support its approval as single treatment.”

The institution urged both the scientific community and the media to adhere to "the ethical principles in the promotion of drugs and potentially healing substances in their information and promotion activities for these products."

The content of some websites that promote this Cuban homeopathic product assures that it does cure cancer, while their creators, Labiofam labs only recommend it as a "potential therapeutic alternative for the treatment of neoplastic diseases in humans and it has been credited to improve the quality of life of patients, in addition to pain relief and symptoms improvement. "

We can interpret from the statement issued by CECMED that also similar products offered on the international market, and for this it alerts:

"Any preparation made from Rhopalurusjunceus scorpion venom other than the homeopathic medicine Vidatox ® 30 CH, sublingual drops, lacks sanitary authorization; its distribution and use are unauthorized and constitute a health risk."

Also the regulator explains in its public statement that "other indications or therapeutic properties attributed to Vidatox ® different from those approved by CECMED, have no required scientific backing and its promotion is unethical."

Labiofam granted distribution licenses to companies located in 21 countries of Latin America and the Caribbean, and China, and the drug is also sold in an online store that it recommends. They have also made the promotion in Europe, with acceptance by enterpreneurs in the UK, Belgium and France.

Vidatox is a homeopathic biotherapeutic which active principle is the Junceus Rhopalurus scorpion venom, endemic to Cuba.

Medical reports and studies have shown that people diagnosed with various forms of tumor diseases, who did not respond to conventional treatments, improved quality of life with the use of the drug.

Among these were patients suffering from tumors in their pancreas, in the nervous system stem, prostate and lung, among other organs.

But on the subject, CECMED says isolated research results are not conclusive, nor is its early disclosure ethical as they create false expectations without scientific backing that can lead to the abandonment of well-established treatments.
