Hey there! We have a lot going on this week. One of the interesting events is the exhibition by Albert Oehlen, a recognized postwar German artist getting to Cuba and Latin America for the first time. You can’t miss it!
We also have the Cuban interpreter Osdalgia in concert this Sunday, singing all the Classics with the Cuban National Symphonic Orchestra. Last but not least, Danza Contemporánea will have two world premieres on weekend.

1st class German art
German painter Alber Oehlen opened his personal exhibition Ö in the National Museum of Fine Arts. Even though Oehlen is not well know in Cuba, he is one of the most influential and valued of last decades. He refers to his own work as a autistic, and in did it burst with abstract, expressionism and surrealism. With this exhibition Oehlen’s work arrives to Cuba and Latin America, and will be open until September 11th.
Artist Ibrahim Miranda will open today his exhibition Kraken at 7 pm in Orígenes Gallery of the Great Theater of Havana. Miranda uses the kraken in order to construct the discourse of this show.
Today 14th at 6 pm will be opened the personal exhibition Comfort Zone by artist José Luis Bermúdez in Galiano Gallery. This Cuban gallery organized the event together with NG Art Gallery from Panama.
Osdalgia: Classic and super Cuban
Osdalgia will sing with the Cuban National Symphonic Orchestra this Sunday at 5pm in the National Cuban Theater. The concert/show named Classics will be a tribute to Cuban classics songs.

Abstraction for the electronic sound
Tomorrow at 6 pm will be presented Abstraction, the first music record for electronic music in Cuba. It will take place in the Develop Center for Visual Arts, Old Havana. You don’t want to miss it!
To keep going, today there will be a huge party of Electronic Music starting at 9 pm in Salón Rosado of La Tropical. Some of the Djs will be playing are Daniela Vázquez, D’vazz Brothers, Ryan, Landeep and Dennis Ever with Sarao Night Club.
This Saturday at 4 pm the instrumental group Nuestro Tiempo, directed by Master Enrique Pérez Peña will offer a concert in Loynaz Room of Hispanic-American Culture Center. Tickets will be available an hour before the presentation with a cost of 5 Cuban pesos. The repertoi will include pieces by Bach, Handel, Mozart and Ravel, as well as some of the Latin American and Cuban such as Piazzola, White, López-Gavilán and Pérez-Prado.
To flamenco lovers we have a very special proposal: Reynier Mariño and his group together with Rachel Valladares will be today at 5 pm in Casa del Alba. Also tomorrow at 8:30 pm you can find him in Central Park Hotel, and later at 11 pm in Mesón de la Chorrera. Finally on Sunday he will paly with some guests in Casa Rosada (Mayía Rodríguez St. and Santa Catalina St., 10 de Octubre) at 8:30 pm.
There are still cats in Old HavanaThe musical Cats is still in the open theater of Old Havana every Saturday and Sunday at 9 pm. This is a Cuban version directed by Alfonso Méndez and includes the original 14 tracks of the Broadway musical. Tickets will be for sale those same days from 6 pm to 20 minutes after the beginning of the show. So you can’t be left out!
Gaviota Theater will present today the play Viaje a la ceniza in Bertolt Bretch Cofee Theater at 8:30 pm. The play is a tragic comedy based on the original by Alberto del Casso adapted by Lilian Dujarric. You can see it every weekend of July in the usual hours.
Danza Contemporánea premieres
This Cuban dance company will present two world premieres during the weekend in the Grate Theater of Havana. Plays will be R=V (El criterio del camello) and Coil, the most recent creations by Cubans George Céspedes and Julio César Iglesias.
On Sunday will finish the first part of the summer course given by Lizt Alfonso Dance Cuba in their 25th edition. This will take place in Avellaneda Hall of Cuban National Theater at 11 am. The show will include all the choreographs created during the course and all the student will participate. The second part of this course will begin next July 18th to 29th.

La Marca tattoo studio invites kids and teenagers to their summer workshop for design and editorial construction. Meetings will be once a week at 2 pm from today to August 26th. The purpose of this workshop is to make a book. In order to do it La Marca will promote creativity, sense of inclusion, respect and equity using disciplines like design, writing, illustration and handcraft.

Cinema on The Roof
Cuban film El Techo premieres happened as part of the Summer Cinema Festival. This is the first movie directed by Patricia Ramos and it is going to be in Chaplin Cinema, Cultural Center Enguayabera, Glauber Rocha Hall and Multicine Infanta. If you want some more info about cinemas click here.
