With the authentic flavor of central Cuba, two jewels without equal have just germinated: Elixir 33 and Extra Old Carta Blanca. This time under the brand Cubay, Cuban rum tradition gives again unequivocal evidence that when talking about spirituous in the world you have to take into account this Caribbean island.

The debut of these products was, without a doubt, one of the biggest attractions exhibited during the second day of the 31st Havana International Fair, FIHAV 2013; good opportunity to show to the international business community the health Cuban industry is enjoying.

With these new proposals, Cuba Ron Corporation will soon try to conquer the European and Latin American market, according to its president Juan Gonzalez Escalona, during the presentation of the Extra Old Carte Blanche, held at Don Cuba restaurant in Expocuba fairgrounds, usual venue of the appointment, at about 25 kilometers from the center of Havana.

Elixir 33, a kind of mysterious, striking and complex fusion of tropical fruit with rum, is now added to the five members of the export portfolio of Cubay – Carta Blanca, Carta Dorada, Añejo Suave (Soft Aged), Añejo (Aged) and 10 years Añejo Superior (10 years Superior).

Patiently aged in white oak barrels, the vast range of flavors of this unique product is a result of natural and traditional techniques used as a kind of magic by the rum makers of the Caribbean nation. Their mastery knew how to endow it smoothness through a very elegant and palatable chocolate taste .

When asked about the name of this new mix, master rum maker César Augusto Marti told OnCuba that number 33 was attributed not only by its alcohol degree, but also in honor of Commander in Chief Fidel Castro as this was his age when he victorious entered Havana.

The Carta Blanca Extra Old, the newest member of the ultra-premium range of Cubay rums and the finest among the white ones, is also able to take us through the mysterious world of aromas and flavors.
It is the result of a unique and unrepeatable technology, where the blend evokes very old rums between 7 and 15 years, the new creation also reminds its origins in sugarcane, thanks to being aged in extra old barrels that have been sleeplessly preserved and wisely used.

Its appearance has perfect brilliance and transparency; it maintains the perfect balance between strength and delicacy. As the first master José Navarro said, it is the authentic expression of Cuban rum magic, while it also reminds the heritage bequeathed by wise rum makers and announces that this industry is in very good health.

“It is a challenge to creation, because the aging degree is almost impossible to achieve on a white rum, it can only be achieved by those who have had the care and patience to preserve very ancient barrels” Navarro noted.

With this jewel, Cubay puts in the hands of Cuban bartenders an unparalleled precedent among white rums, a border between client, producer and bartender. “You create wonders and we will serve them to consumer’s delight,” Barbaro Edel Molina, President of the Managing Committee of Cuban Bartenders Association in Havana, stated at the meeting.

In order to preserve these unique features, the Carta Blanca Extra Old will have a limited production, at about 50,000 liters a year. Hence the price of the bottle will be around 100 euros in the European market, to which it will be focused the first stage of its promotional campaign, Juan Gonzalez Escalona, president of the Corporation, noted.

In the coming days of the 31st edition of FIHAV 2013, it will also be presented other brands of Cuban rum industry such as: ¨Santiago de Cuba Extra Viejo Siglo y Medio, ¨ and other products by Legendario.

For this Tuesday, the program reserves the most expected “cake” by foreign participants: the official presentation of Mariel Special Development Zone (ZEDM by its Spanish acronym) by the Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment, Rodrigo Malmierca, and Ana Teresa Igarza, General Director of the Regulatory Office of that harbor.

Trade talks with several Cuban business partners will also continue to identify new business opportunities in key sectors of the economy, as well as the celebration of the National Days of Russia, Brazil and Canada, countries showing strong growth in their relations with Cuba.

1 400 exhibitors will promote their goods and services in the 25 exhibition halls of Expocuba until November 9th. The closing ceremony is scheduled for Friday at Havana Conventions Palace, while the public visitation will be on Saturday.

“and 10 years Añejo Superior (10 years Superior).” Taken from above paragraph 4 above.
Is Anejo Superior a total 10 years old or 20 years old? Are all “Anjejo Superior” rums aged the same amount of time???
