The sea breeze and the Malecón have blessed the emergence of a new space for the enjoyment and presentation of electronic music in the country. The Castillito, recreational club located on 1st Street, between l0 and 12 (Vedado), was the venue for the development of the cultural project promoted by Analog PMM 2 directed by Joyván Guevara, better known as Djoy of Cuba.
The opportunity to access the latest developments of this genre on the island and the world at a price of 25 pesos in national currency including bathing in the pool as well as the ability to share experiences and feelings with youth who share similar musical tastes, it is an interesting option for Sundays from 6:00 pm to 1:00 am.
When I read the announcement of this new space I thought that perhaps there would be little public support due to its recent emergence. It is true that on arrival I found a crowd of people, however slowly guests started arriving. Some were willing to make the most of the party and had fun early, others like me, expectantly, were probing the ground.
I took my time enjoying the environment and while listening to the sound mix was very easy to find opinions like this: “It’s great that you can listen to other music besides regueatton and salsa, it is also time for the DJs to have the opportunity to show what they are doing in a place designed for that purpose and receive more promotion for others interested in their work, “says the young Arianna as her voice gets confused with infectious rhythm.
Yulo, meanwhile, recognizes that he is very absent-minded and forgot his bathing suit but will return next Sunday because he feels happy with this option. He respects the musical tastes of all people, and precisely for that reason, thinks that there should be places for the most diverse trends: “So you can choose the one that suits you and meet with those who share similar preferences”.
Dayana says she learned that this new space thanks to a promotion that was sent to her mobile phone. She clarifies that the pool was a key element in deciding to visit. “Yes because we can enjoy the music we love and also take a dip. It is an all inclusive. To this is added that the culinary offerings are cheap, that is, that we can buy something to eat. ”
Djoy of Cuba is very clear: “We need to expand the musical horizons of the younger generation, to show other genres and offer more emblematic Cuban music in a different and attractive way, using current rhythms. We also intend to contribute to the evolution of massive parties with a dynamic and seductive offer to youngsters but at the same time, healthy. ”
The Rotilla Festival founder and one of the main promoters of the electronic music in the country also believes that “this is a great opportunity to captivate other young people who have not yet discovered the genre and, above all, that domestic producers will find a new motivation. ”
For this reason, this innovative sound world – a member of the Hermanos Saiz Association (AHS) and the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba (UNEAC) – does not cease in its efforts and also to deal with the organization of Analog PMM 2 and he is finalizing the details of a similar project that will run every Saturday at Cafe Cantante at the National Theater of Cuba. “We want to show that we make art, our music attracts public and it is possible to keep the joy and discipline through the spirit of music.”
