The accident occurred at about 1 p.m. yesterday. The causes are still unknown. An Inquiry Commission has been created to determine and assess the damages.

There was no loss of human life, confirmed Eduardo Hernández, general director of the Cuban Railroad Conglomerate. However, of all the sheets, five were fully affected and two were partially damaged. 250 meters of tracks suffered damages, according to Hernández.

Hernández said that “intense work is being carried out” to reestablish communication on this railroad track as soon as possible, “since track number 1 did not suffer any damage and only the equipment that is on it has to be removed. In the case of track number 2, the repair work will take several days.”
