COVID-19 adds 49 new positive cases in Cuba

The number of active cases rose to 276, thirteen patients were discharged and four people were reported seriously ill.

Help us keep OnCuba alive

The first Wednesday of August closed for Cuba with the following news about the SARS-CoV-2 virus: increase in active cases: 276; increase in hospitalizations: 545: many more tests carried out: 3,876; and 49 new contagions.

According to today’s Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP) report, they were all Cuban, 41 are contacts of confirmed cases and six contracted the disease abroad. The source of infection is unknown in two individuals.

The regions that registered infections in the last 24 hours were Havana, Artemisa, Granma, Matanzas, Mayabeque, Villa Clara and Holguín.

The six cases with a source of infection abroad (Mexico, Costa Rica and Venezuela) are from Havana, Granma, Mayabeque, Matanzas and Holguín.

Men slightly predominate over women (25-24) and 32 were asymptomatic.

The most affected age groups are: between 20 and 39 years, with 22 cases; from 40 to 59, 16; over 60 four, and seven under 20.

Cuba has processed a total of 285,471 tests carried out since March, of which 2,775 have been positive. The number of deaths from the new coronavirus on the island is, as of this moment, 88.
