Coronavirus: Cuba registers 35 new contagions and more than 3,000 recovered patients

In the last day, only two provinces reported cases: Havana, with 30, and Artemisa, with five, although the dispersion of those infected in the Cuban capital continues to be worrying.

At the close of this Friday, Cuba registered 35 new coronavirus infections and more than 3,000 patients have recovered from the disease (3,006), according to the island’s Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP).

This figure represents 83.2% of the 3,617 COVID-19 patients detected so far in the country.

In the last day, only two provinces reported cases: Havana, with 30, and Artemisa, with five, although the dispersion of those infected in the Cuban capital continues to be worrying.

In addition, the number of seriously ill patients increased to 14, while another three remain in critical condition and 503 are in stable condition, out of the total of 520 active cases in Cuba today. There were no deaths to mourn, so the death toll remained at 89, and 55 were discharged.

Of the 35 patients diagnosed this Friday, 34 are Cuban and one is a temporary foreign resident. Of these, 30 were contacts of previously confirmed cases and in five the source of infection could not be specified, according to the Ministry of Public Health’s report.

Among the newly infected, 15 are men and 20 women, while 25 were asymptomatic at the time of their diagnosis. By age, 12 are between 20 and 39 years old, and the same number is between 40 and 59. Those under 20 are five, and six are over 60.

Finally, there are 1,232 patients hospitalized for clinical epidemiological surveillance. Of these, 520 have already been confirmed with COVID-19, 44 are under surveillance, and 668 are suspected of having the disease.
