The United States Embassy in Havana announced this Tuesday that as of March it will only accept payments in USD for consular, citizenship and immigration services.

According to the statement, as of March 1, 2023, it will charge only in USD for all consular services, as well as citizenship and immigration services (USCIS), thus rejecting payment in Cuban pesos.

The provision includes payment for services to U.S. citizens, visas, notary services or parole that are carried out in this diplomatic representation.

The Embassy of the United States also does not accept the use of a credit card to pay for its services, according to the note also published on its social networks.

At the end of December 2022, the U.S. embassy in Cuba resumed interviews in its consular section as part of the reactivation of the immigrant visa granting process, something that had not happened since 2017.
