Universal wars do not end. Injustice is not quenched. The scenes of politics -in time- anywhere and anytime, will remain being that: false doors, loopholes that let us just see the tip of an inextricable tangled thread. The power, that ring Frodo the hobbit, after going through unspeakable dangers, when is about to throw it into the fire, wanted to keep to himself, power, I say, will continue forever tempting that imperfect creature man is.
But tomorrow …
Tomorrow something will have been removed from an old mountain. Something that is only possible with the poetic faith in dialogue, with restorative essence of common blood, the life-giving energy of pollen, that germinates only when spreads.
At the back of the two banks are ideals, history. The difference engendered opposition; opposition, contradiction; contradictions, antagonisms; antagonisms, walls.
So this news, The News of Washington and Havana, has been like a “sweeper of sorrows”.
Nothing stops or starts out of the sudden. Except, perhaps, life. But either life itself, in its continuous renewal, leave early or sharp closures appear. Rather there is a flow, a current that sweeps us and lifts us a go and stay, in the words of the poet.
What will remain of this winter Wednesday of 2014? How much will enter the books, the stories, the family albums?
Do not neglect the symbols, creeds, rites. It was December 17 and noon when words jealously selected and stored, rose on either side. The sun at this time is at its highest point. And men, ah, old Icarus, we are still dreaming to get there.
