Ciego de Ávila again reports highest number of new COVID-19 cases in Cuba

38 contagions today. 46 people were discharged. 4,573 remain hospitalized. Two people in intensive care.

Cuba reported 38 new contagions from the SARS-CoV-2 virus on Tuesday after 5,770 tests were carried out in search of the new coronavirus, which has already left 5,883 cases on the island.

The cases were reported from three provinces: Ciego de Ávila, with the highest number of patients (26 cases, all in the main municipality), followed by Sancti Spíritus (seven cases in three municipalities) and Havana (five cases in two municipalities).

All the patients, registered in the report issued today by the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP), were Cuban and all the cases are autochthonous: 37 were contacts of confirmed cases and in one individual the source of infection is not specified.

No deaths were reported, and the death toll from the new coronavirus remains at 123.

This time there was a small difference in gender (20 male, 18 female) and, of the total, 30 were asymptomatic at the time of diagnosis.

By age group, five were under 20 years of age; 20, between 20 and 39; 12, between 40 and 59, and one over 60.

Until midnight on Monday, October 5, 4,573 people remained hospitalized, on a day where 46 patients were discharged.
