Organized by the National Tax Administration Office (ONAT), the Ministry of Education (MINED) and the National Association of Economists and Accountants of Cuba (ANEC), a theoretical-practical course for taxpayers started being given this Saturday in Havana.

It will last one month and will be held at the Aguado y Rico Polytechnic Institute, on Belascoaín between Sitio and Maloja streets, and at the Havana School of Economics, on Ayestarán and 19 de mayo streets.

Mayelín Enamorado Galán, communication specialist of the Attention to Taxpayers Department at the National ONAT, said that before the start of the 2020 Income Tax Return and Payment Campaign, taxpayers’ preparation on issues such as filling out the Affidavit (DJ08)―in which they present their personal income―and the income and expenses records.

The ONAT has planned the necessary material for the course: it includes practical exercises of what has been learned, and will be extended to the rest of the country in the first month of 2020, after completing the training of the instructors in the different provinces.

Likewise, it was reported that the start of the courses in the remaining territories will be announced through the media so that all interested taxpayers enroll.

She said it was very important and useful for them to know and prepare for these tax issues.

The course will serve as training for bookkeepers who provide the self-employed and other taxpayers with the service of filling out the DJ08 and other records, said the ONAT communication specialist.

Finally, she underlined that the main contribution is the gaining of “a tax culture for the good of all, of society, since paying taxes is a social duty and doing it well is what matters if each one proposes it.” What is paid by taxpayers, she said, contributes to financing social expenses.
